Andrew Wiggins’ return to his hometown of Toronto didn’t go as he had hoped as the Timberwolves fell to the Toronto Raptors 105-100 on Wednesday night.
It was the seventh straight road loss for Minnesota, which has also lost 10 of its last 11 games.
Toronto knocked down 12 three-pointers on the night and made their free throws down the stretch to stop the Wolves from fighting back in the final minute.
DeMar DeRozen scored 21 points to lead the way for the Raptors. He was 12-of-12 from the free-throw line. Jonas Valanciunas had a huge night with 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Kevin Martin tried to will the Wolves to the victory; he scored a season-high 37 points. But Martin missed a jumper that would have tied the game with around 90 seconds to play. Chase Budinger added 19.
Wiggins spent most of the night in foul trouble, but still scored 15 points.
Ricky Rubio once again exhibited his highlight-reel passing skills as he split a pair of defenders with this bounce pass to Budinger.
Holy… Rubio truly is a Spanish unicorn RT @talkhoops: This guy RT @CBSSportsNBA: Wait, Ricky Rubio did what now? https://t.co/S50Uy7tIjZ

Rubio finished with just two points, but had eight assists and eight rebounds.
The Wolves (14-53) are in New York on Thursday to face the Knicks.
