The Golden Gophers chance at a season sweep of North Dakota went by the wayside Friday night as they lost, 2-1 at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks.
The Gophers got the scoring started midway through the second period on a goal by Kyle Rau. The freshman nicely handled a rebound and fired a shot passed UND goaltender Aaron Dell.
North Dakota, playing it’s first game at home without the Fighting Sioux nickname, responded with a goal in the second period, and the winner in the third period for the win.
The Gophers have lost three in a row.
