The news comes after Coach Leslie Frazier told reporters Wednesday that it’s “hard to say” if Harvin would return this season.
The wide receiver has missed four weeks for a torn ligament in his ankle.
Quarterback Christian Ponder joined 1500 ESPN radio and said he could tell Harvin was “frustrated” with the news. Ponder admitted that it’s “unfortunate,” but he believes rookie Jarius Wright can do some of the things Harvin was able to do.
Bob Sansevere of the Pioneer Press writes that a 6-10 finish is far more likely now that Harvin is out.
