The University of Minnesota women’s basketball team has accepted a bid to play in the Women’s National Invitational Tournament, the Star Tribune reports.
Pam Borton’s Gophers (18-13) will host Ball State (15-15) in the first round of the tournament on Friday at 7 p.m. at Williams Arena, according to the U of M website.
Borton says she’s “excited to be playing in March” and is looking forward to getting her young team more postseason experience.
The Gophers last played in the WNIT in 2007. Their last NCAA tournament appearance was in 2009.
