University of Minnesota men’s basketball juniors Andre Hollins and DeAndre Mathieu (pictured, above, left to right) were listed as honorable mentions to the All-Big Ten team Monday, Fox Sports North reports.
No Gophers made the first, second or third team lists.
Hollins led the men’s hoops team in scoring this season with an average of 14.6 points per game, 3.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists. Mathieu, who transferred in from Central Arizona College, was second in scoring behind Hollins with 11.9 points per game and led the Gophers in assists.
Fox Sports North says Hollins was voted to the honorable mention list on the ballots from the coaches and the media, and Mathieu was voted to the list by the media ballot.

The Daily Gopher says the first team honorees were Roy Devyn Marble (Iowa), Nik Stauskas (Michigan), Gary Harris (Michigan State), Terran Petteway (Nebraska) and Frank Kaminsky (Wisconsin). Both the coaches and media named the same five players as first team honorees.
Last year, senior forward Trevor Mbakwe was selected to the second All-Big Ten team by the media and third team by the coaches. Hollins was selected to the third team by the media and an honorable mention by the coaches.
The Gophers wrapped up their regular season Sunday with a 81-63 victory over Penn State to finish 19-12 on the year, and 8-10 in the Big Ten.
The U of M and Penn State will meet again Thursday in the first round of the Big Ten Tournament. The Star Tribune assesses the Gophers’ play this season as the team readies for the tournament.
