The Gophers women’s hockey team continued its perfect season Saturday with a 2-0 win over North Dakota in the WCHA Final Face-Off championship game at Ridder Arena, the Pioneer Press reports.
With the win, the Gophers automatically qualify for a bid to the NCAA tournament and are all but assured the No. 1 seed.
Megan Bozek and Maryanne Menefee scored for the Gophers in the second period to secure the victory. The win boosted the Gophers’ season record to 38-8-0 (a new NCAA record) and 46-0-0 dating back to last season.
As one of the top four seeds, Minnesota will host a regional quarterfinal game next Saturday at Ridder Arena.
The NCAA women’s Frozen Four is set for March 22 and 24 at Ridder Arena.
