Minnesota led 28-20 midway through the fourth quarter before Georgia Southern scored two stunning touchdowns, the first on a blocked field goal that was returned 77 yards for a touchdown, and the second when Tanner Morgan fumbled on a sack with the Eagles returning it 44 yards for the go-ahead touchdown.
Georgia Southern had just 64 passing yards and was limited to 3.7 yards per carry on 33 rushing attempts.
Morgan threw for 289 yards with three touchdowns and one interception to help overcome a rough day on the ground for Gopher running backs, who combined for 48 carries and just 93 yards.
