The demolition of the Metrodome in early 2014 signals the end of a lot more than Vikings football at the Dome.
Also saying goodbye to its longtime home is TwinsFest — the annual get-together for Twins fans to buy merchandise, memorabilia and collect autographs from past and present players.
TwinsFest’s new home in 2014 will be Target Field, the Twins announced today.
According to the Star Tribune, tickets will be limited because of the venue change. The report also notes that season-ticket holders will not receive free tickets, although they can register for a drawing to win a pair of free tickets.
Despite the limited space, the team believes “TwinsFest at Target Field” will provide a more intimate experience for fans compared to what they got at the Metrodome from 1989 to 2013.
“We’re excited to bring TwinsFest home to Target Field,” Twins President Dave St. Peter said in a press release. “Hosting the event at our ballpark gives us a chance to reinvent this great tradition, providing creative new experiences for our fans in a smaller, more intimate setting. As always, TwinsFest will serve as the unofficial start to a new baseball season while also helping raise significant proceeds for the Twins Community Fund and its many worthwhile programs across Twins Territory.”
Tickets go on sale Dec. 11 and cost $20 for adults and $10 for children 14-years-old and younger.
TwinsFest runs Jan. 24 through Jan. 26, 2014.
