Vance Worley — the Twins’ projected opening day starter — had an OK final outing of the spring today, as Minnesota topped Pittsburgh, 7-4, in Grapefruit League play in Florida.
Through five innings against the Pirates, Worley gave up a pair of runs scattering seven hits. He ends the spring with a 5.73 ERA.
It was also a successful major league debut for Twins prospect, 19-year-old Byron Buxton.
He went 1-for-4, with a single, two stolen bases and three runs scored.
Buxton’s hit came in his first at-bat in the first inning as he singled off A.J. Burnett. He then stole second, went to third on an error and scored on a groundout.
