Two-run homers in the sixth inning by Byron Buxton and Trevor Larnach powered the Minnesota Twins to a 6-2 win over the New York Yankees Tuesday night at Target Field.
The win is Minnesota’s 14th of the season and fourth over the Yankees, having now secured the season series with just one more game remaining between the two American League teams. This is the Twins’ first season series victory over the Yankees since 2001.
Buxton’s two-run shot gave the Twins a 4-2 lead. Here’s the highlight, note the confident bat flip by Buxton even the ball only went a few rows deep into the left-field bleachers.

The Twins’ first two runs of the game came on doubles in the second inning by Donovan Solano and Jorge Polanco, and that gave Joe Ryan some early run support as he improved to 5-0 by striking out seven over seven innings while allowing just one earned run on seven hits.
The Twins and Yankees split last weekend’s four-game series in New York, and the Twins can make it five of seven with a win Wednesday. First pitch is set for 12:10 p.m.
