The Minnesota Twins stayed hot on Tuesday afternoon winning their fifth straight game in a 7-3 victory over the Pittsburgh Pirates at Target Field.
The Twins set the tone early in their latest victory, jumping over starter Joe Musgrove for three runs in the first inning including a Miguel Sano RBI double.

Although the Twins typically bludgeon their opponents with extra-base hits, the approach included plenty of small ball which included an RBI single from Nelson Cruz in the second inning, an infield single by Eddie Rosario in the fourth and a pair of sacrifice flies by Max Kepler and Byron Buxton in the sixth.

Armed with plenty of run support, Jose Berrios was not dominant and loaded the bases in the second inning, but was able to get out of the jam allowing just one run. That would be all the Pirates would get as Berrios went six innings allowing a run, four hits, three walks, and striking out six.
The Pirates added two runs in the ninth, but the Twins finished the game to improve to 9-2 on the season. At the midway point of their home-and-home, four-game series with the Pirates, the Twins will head to Pittsburgh tomorrow with Randy Dobnak (1-1, 1.00 ERA) taking the mound against Trevor Williams (0-2, 5.40 ERA).
