Alex Gordon led the Royals over the Twins, 5-2 Wednesday night in Kansas City.
Gordon doubled twice and drove in a pair of runs. Alcides Escobar also had a pair of hits and two RBI.
Sam Deduno struggled for the Twins, allowing four runs on 12 hits in 5 2/3 innings. The Twins had won Deduno’s previous four starts.
Brian Dozier went 3-5 at the plate, finishing a home run shy of the cycle.
The Twins had chances to score in the 7th and 8th, but failed to score with two runners on with one out in both innings.
The ugliest stat from this one was 16 strikeouts by Twins hitters. That’s a season-high.
KC took two of three games in the series.
The Twins are off to Chicago for a series against the White Sox, including a double-header on Friday.
