Twins general manager Terry Ryan and his scouting department are gearing up for the MLB Draft, which starts Thursday and runs through Saturday.
Minnesota owns the No. 4 overall pick in the first-round, which has produced some duds and studs in the past. Aaron Gleeman has a list of 25 of those players, including stud shortstop Barry Larkin in 1985, pitcher Kevin Brown in 1986, flamethrower Kerry Wood in 1995 and third baseman Ryan Zimmerman in 2005.
Gleeman also has a list of nine players the Twins are most likely to select at No. 4 this year.
Twins third base coach Joe Vavra has two sons that would love to be drafted. One plays at Eastern Illinois while another plays for Valparaiso.
Last week we took a look at the top prospects in Minnesota that could go early in the draft, including Red Wing High School’s Ryan Boldt.
