Three hours ahead of Game 1 of the Wild Card series between the Twins and Blue Jays, the Twins have announced the starting lineup, and it includes Royce Lewis at designated hitter. His status was in question because of a hamstring injury that he suffered Sept. 19.
Here’s how the Twins will go in Game 1:
- 2B Edouard Julien, L
- 3B Jorge Polanco, S
- DH Royce Lewis, R
- RF Max Kepler, L
- 1B Alex Kirilloff, L
- SS Carlos Correa, R
- C Ryan Jeffers, R
- LF Matt Wallner, L
- CF Michael A. Taylor, R
Correa batting sixth jumps off the page as abnormal but it could be the Twins recognizing that Blue Jays starting pitcher Kevin Gausman is tougher on righties than lefties. Right-handed batters hit .218/.276/342 against Guasman while lefties hit .250/.309/.422 against him.
Game 1 starts at 3:38 p.m. CT.
