The Minnesota Twins have reportedly traded catcher/outfielder Ryan Doumit to the Atlanta Braves, the Twins announced Wednesday.

Gilmartin was a first-round pick of the Braves in 2011. According to the Pioneer Press, the left-hander went 3-8 with a 5.74 earned-run average last season at Triple-A.
While the Twins are losing an “intense” player, the team now has some extra spending money to use on the free-agent market.

1500 ESPN speculates that the recent signing of Jason Kubel made Doumit expendable. Doumit, 32, spent the past two seasons with the Twins. He started only 43 games last season while hitting .247 with 14 home runs and 55 RBI

Gilmartin has not lived up to expectations since the Braves took him with the 28th overall selection in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft. The 23-year-old has gone 12-20 with a 4.23 ERA in 54 professional appearances. He compiled a 5.74 ERA in the 17 starts he made for Triple-A Gwinnett this year.
