CINCINNATI — Ben Revere went 4-for-4 and drove in the go-ahead run on a sacrifice fly in the top of the sixth inning as the Twins came from behind to defeat the Cincinnati Reds, 5-4, at Great American Ball Park Friday night.
Ryan Doumit, catching for the injured Joe Mauer, also went 4-for-4, hitting his seventh homer of the year, a solo shot in the fourth inning.
Five separate Twins drove in a run apiece as Minnesota improved its record to 28-41.
The Minnesota bullpen was impressive once again, with Glen Perkins pitching out of a ninth-inning jam to pick up the save. The Reds had runners on first and third with one out in the ninth, but failed to score.
For the night, the Twins’ pen hurled four shutout innings after starter Nick Blackburn left after five innings.
Blackburn (4-4) picked up the victory, giving up just five hits. But two of those were a pair of two-run homers to Cincinnati’s Chris Heisey and Scott Rolen.
