Tommy Milone and the Minnesota Twins have agreed on a one-year contract to avoid salary arbitration.
According to the MLB Network’s Jon Heyman, Milone and the Twins settled at $4.5 million for the 2016 season.

Milone, a left-hander, finished last season 9-5 with a 3.92 ERA. In 24 appearances he made 23 starts and picked up one save out of the bullpen. Milone also struck out 91 hitters last year in 128 2/3 innings.

Milone, who turns 29 next month, was one of six Twins to file for arbitration. Trevor Plouffe, Kevin Jepsen, Eduardo Escobar, Casey Fien and Eduardo Nunez are the others.
According to 1500 ESPN, the two sides have historically swapped figures and then been able to reach an agreement before cases begin going to arbitration hearings.
But arbitration might be a little more expensive for the Twins this year. In addition to Milone, Plouffe and Jepsen could also see handsome raises.
If the parties can’t reach agreement before Friday, they exchange figures and hearings are scheduled to take place between Feb. 1-21. The Twins haven’t had an arbitration hearing since Kyle Lohse in 2006.
