The Twins bounced back from losses in their first two games in Cleveland by winning the final game of the series 5-3 Sunday.
Josh Willingham and Oswaldo Arcia each drove in two runs to back the pitching of emergency call-up Pedro Hernandez and a hard-working bullpen.
Hernandez drove through the night and arrived in Cleveland at 4:30 a.m., the Pioneer Press reports, after pitcher Mike Pelfrey was sent to the disabled list with a back injury. Hernandez was the most rested starter on the Triple-A Rochester Red Wings, who were playing in Louisville.
But Hernandez’ stay with the parent club was a brief one.
After the game the Twins announced they’ve called up their top pitching prospect, Kyle Gibson.
Per @Twins_morsecode, Kyle Gibson will make his MLB debut on Saturday at Target Field. #MNTwins
