Eduardo Escobar’s two-run double led the Twins to a 3-2, walk-off win over the Tigers Wednesday afternoon at Target Field.
The ninth inning started with Trevor Plouffe drawing a walk. Jamey Carroll pinch ran for Plouffe and advanced to third on Brian Dozier’s one-out, bloop single to right field. The next hitter was Escobar, who finished the job.
The Twins trailed 2-0 until Wilkin Ramirez doubled home Plouffe in the seventh inning. Plouffe, like he did in the ninth, started the seventh with a leadoff walk. Ramirez was a pinch-hitter, replacing Pedro Florimon.
Ironically, Ramirez was pinch-hit for by Escobar.
Kevin Correia (0-0) started the game for the Twins and took a no-decision. He pitched very well, going seven innings, allowing seven hits and two runs.
Glen Perkins (1-0) pitched a 1-2-3 ninth to earn the win.
