The Twins picked up a series win over the Tigers with a 7-4 victory on Sunday. Minnesota was also able to pick up a game on their division lead too with the Kansas City Royals defeating the Cleveland Indians 9-8 in extra innings.
Mitch Garver got the Twins on the board in the third inning with an RBI double scoring Jonathan Schoop. Nelson Cruz was then able to bring Garver home with an RBI groundout to make it 2-0.
But it was C.J. Cron’s three-run blast in the fourth that busted game open.

Martin Perez had another strong start for the Twins, going six innings, allowing two runs, on five hits with five strikeouts. The left-hander allowed just four runs in his last three starts.
Cody Stashak, who was recalled from Triple-A Rochester before the game, had a nice outing of the bullpen allowing just one base runner in his two innings of work. Lewis Thorpe ran into some trouble in the ninth inning allowing two runs but was able to pitch around the trouble.
With the win, the Twins improve to 79-51 on the season and have an off day on Monday, Aug. 27 but will open a three-game series with the White Sox in Chicago on Tuesday.
