After free falling with 12 losses in 14 games, the Minnesota Twins (15-17) are closing back in on a .500 record thanks to five straight wins, including a 7-1 spanking of the St. Louis Cardinals on Tuesday.
The Twins allowed just two hits, both given up by starting pitcher Jake Odorizzi, who lowered his ERA to 3.86 by allowing just one run in five innings before Ryan Pressly, Taylor Rogers and Phil Hughes combined to pitch four perfect innings to end the game.

Eduardo Escobar continued his hot streak at the plate, going 2-for-5 and hitting his seventh home run of the season.

Minnesota outscored St. Louis 13-1 in the two-game sweep, and they’re riding five straight wins headed into a day off Wednesday and then four games in Los Angeles against the Angels Thursday-Sunday.
