The Twins improved to 7-2 on their 10-game road trip with a 12-inning, 4-3 victory over the Los Angeles Angels on Saturday night.
A night after delivering the game-tying RBI single down the right-field line in the Twins’ comeback win on Friday, Mitch Garver did it again on Saturday with the go-ahead RBI double down the left-field line in the top of the 12th.
Garver and Bobby Wilson have been splitting time as the starting catcher since Jason Castro went on the disabled list earlier this month with a slight meniscus tear.
“I think he’s getting more comfortable at this level, both behind the plate and with his at-bats,” Twins manager Paul Molitor said when asked about Garver. “To be able to hit that ball down the line and get a big hit like that has to be a big boost for him, especially after what he did last night, too.”
