The Minnesota Twins snapped their six-game losing streak on Tuesday night, picking up a much needed 3-2 victory over the AL Central-leading Chicago White Sox at Target Field.
The night began with the return of Michael Pineda, who wrapped up his 60-game suspension for violating Major League Baseball’s performance-enhancing drugs policy last September.
Starting his first game in nearly a year, the White Sox gave Pineda a rude welcome when Eloy Jimenez drove in a pair of runs with an RBI double in the first inning to put Chicago up 2-0.
The Twins bats remained silent against Dallas Keuchel but finally broke through in the fifth inning when Marwin Gonzalez drove in a run on a fielder’s choice. The following inning, Luis Arraez tied the game up with an RBI double.

The rally helped get Pineda off the hook, who was solid in six innings allowing two runs, six hits, a walk, and striking out four while also benefitting from a highlight-reel catch from the returning Byron Buxton.

After turning in a web gem, Buxton played the hero by delivering a go-ahead RBI single in the bottom of the seventh. The bullpen combination of Sergio Romo and Matt Wisler preserved the lead and allowed the Twins to tie the series and end their losing streak.
The Twins will look to take the series when they send Jose Berrios to the mound against Reynaldo Lopez in the rubber game. First pitch at Target Field is scheduled for 7:10 p.m.
