The Minnesota Twins were busy Thursday by bolstering their infield by signing second baseman Jonathan Schoop and utility infielder Ronald Torreyes to one-year deals.
Torreyes will provide depth while Schoop was an All-Star with the Baltimore Orioles in 2017 before struggling at the plate last season with Baltimore and Milwaukee.

- Schoop 2018: .233/.266/.416, 21 HR, 61 RBI, 22 2B, 61 R
According to MLB Network’s Ken Rosenthal, Schoop’s deal is worth slightly more than $7 million.

Schoop, 27, will become the immediate everyday starter at second base, filling the void left when the Twins traded Brian Dozier to the Los Angeles Dodgers.
Torreyes, 26, will likely come off the bench with the ability to play third, short and second. He hit .280/.294/.370 with seven doubles and seven RBI in 41 games with the Yankees last season.
With Schoop signed, the Twins’ infield will likely feature C.J. Cron, whom they recently signed, at first base, Schoop at second, Jorge Polanco at shortstop and Miguel Sano at third.
