The Twins sent Kyle Gibson to Triple-A Rochester after the team’s 8-5 loss to the Oakland A’s on Thursday.

In six starts this season, Gibson has an ERA of 8.20 and is averaging nearly two base runners per inning.
“Another relatively rough start, it’s not working and it’s putting us in a bad spot,” Manager Paul Molitor told the Treasure Island Baseball Network after the game. “I still have faith in him, but we need to give him an opportunity to work things out.”
Before Thursday’s game, multiple reports were suggesting that Nick Tepesch would start on Saturday against the Red Sox since Minnesota has been rolling with a four-man rotation for the past week.
Gibson’s next scheduled start would have been next Wednesday, May 10 in Chicago. However, the team does have an off-day between now and then, so they may stick with that four-man rotation for the time being or use someone out of the bullpen.
Top pitching prospect Jose Berrios has been dominating at Triple-A, but it doesn’t sound like the team wants to rush him back to the big leagues.
