All that waiting fans did for Kyle Gibson didn’t result in the immediate success many thought they would see from the rookie right-hander.
The Pioneer Press reports that Gibson was demoted by the Twins to Triple-A Rochester following another bad outing in Monday’s loss to the Mets.
Gibson allowed four runs on 10 hits and two walks and he failed to make it out of the fourth inning.
“Right now he needs to go down there and relax his mind a little bit,” manager Ron Gardenhire said. “As we saw today, the ball is just not going where he wants it to.”
Kyle Gibson’s first 10 starts: 6.53 ERA, 51 innings, 29 strikeouts, 20 walks, 7 homers, .327 opponents’ batting average.
