He helped the Dominican Republic win the World Baseball Classic, but Twins pitcher Samuel Deduno will start the 2013 regular season in the minor leagues. That word from the Twins today, according to the Pioneer Press.
Deduno was shut down by the Twins in the past week after he injured his groin pitching in the championship game of the tournament against Puerto Rico, and missed his scheduled start against Toronto Sunday.
Heading into Monday’s opener against Detroit, the Twins probable starting rotation looks like this: Vance Worley, Mike Pelfrey, Kevin Correia, Liam Hendriks and Cole De Vries.
Scott Diamond, the ace of the 2012 staff, is on the disabled list, and isn’t expected to rejoin the rotation until mid-April.
