Will Trevor Plouffe make be the Twins starting third baseman this year?
General Manager Terry Ryan basically says it’s his job to lose as the Twins head to spring training.
He tells Fox Sports North the job is “there for him to take … I’m waiting to see exactly what he does.”
The excellent “For Better or Worse” series over at TwinsDaily.com also focuses on Plouffe today, pointing out that “stability at third base and right-handed power have both been in short supply for the Twins over the past decade or so.”
Last year, Plouffe hit 18 homers in 39 games in a mid-season hot streak. But after a thumb injury, he hit just five homers in the final 53 games.
So will he be better or worse this year?
TwinsDaily.com says if he can stay healthy, there’s no reason Plouffe can’t bounce back and hit at least 30 homers.
The Bleacher Report agrees, simply writing “the kid can hit.”
If not, his career could be .. and yes, we stole this… Plouffe there it was.
