An error from Ehire Adrianza allowed Cleveland to then get batters on 1st and 3rd, with Roberto Perez then hitting a base-clearing double to put the home team 3-1 ahead.
Gibson was pulled after just 3.2 innings despite having given up just 1 earned run, with Trevor May brought in to finish his inning.

With the score at 3-2, Jorge Polanco then hammered a double to deep center to score Adrianza and Kepler to give the Twins the lead, which Mitch Garver then extended in the 8th with a solo homer.
Taylor Rogers then became the first Twins pitcher since Rick Aguilera in 1990 to record back-to-back six out saves to secure the first victory of the series and put Minnesota 6.5 games ahead of their divisional rivals.
