The Twins played their role as spoiler perfectly Tuesday night at Target Field as they scored four runs in the seventh inning to surge past the Yankees for a 5-4 win. Denard Span’s 37th double of the season drove in the game-tying and go-ahead runs in the seventh.
Esmerling Vazquez had his best start as a Twin. He gave up two runs on seven hits and struck out five. Glen Perkins gave up a two-out solo home run to Adam Jones in the ninth before eventually closing the door for his 15th save of the season.
