The struggles continued for the Minnesota Twins’ bullpen on Tuesday night, allowing four runs in a 9-3 loss to the Chicago White Sox.
Things started on a positive note for the Twins as they plated three runs in the second inning including a solo home run from Jorge Polanco.

The Twins loaded the bases off White Sox starter Dylan Cease but the two runs they scored were a product of Cease’s struggles on the mound. Ben Rortvedt was hit by a pitch to drive in a run and Luis Arraez hit into a double play that scored a run but ended the rally.
The White Sox tied the game in the bottom of the second when Kenta Maeda allowed a three-run homer to Yasmani Grandal, who entered Tuesday’s game hitting .113.
Maeda settled down after Grandal’s bomb allowing four hits and striking out three but was pulled in the fifth inning after 87 pitches. Jorge Alcala entered the game in the sixth inning and allowed a two-run homer to Jose Abreu that put the White Sox ahead 5-3.
Chicago piled on with two runs in the seventh and eighth inning and took the opening game of a three-game series.
The Twins (12-21) will play the second game of the series on Wednesday night in Chicago.
