The Minnesota Twins placed Josh Donaldson on the injured list on Saturday with a mild hamstring strain.

Donaldson was hurt in his first at-bat of the season in Thursday’s loss to the Brewers when he laced a double into the gap. As Donaldson rounded first base, he came up lame and limped into second base. Although Donaldson stayed in the game, he was replaced by Luis Arraez in the bottom half of the first inning.
The injury is not a good start to Donaldson’s second season in Minnesota. Donaldson missed 32 games with a calf strain in 2020, hitting .222 with 6 HR and 11 RBI as part of the first year of a 4-year, $92 million contract.
Brent Rooker has been called up to replace Donaldson on the roster. The 26-year-old hit .316 with one home run and five RBI in seven games last season but suffered a broken forearm on Sept. 12 that ended his season.
