The Minnesota Twins placed Jorge Polanco on the injured list prior to Saturday’s game against the Toronto Blue Jays as the former All-Star continues to deal with a hamstring injury.
Polanco originally injured his hamstring during a May 17 game against the Los Angeles Dodgers. After missing 12 games, Polanco was reinstated on June 1 but went 3-for-25 with a home run and two doubles in the seven games since his return.
Polanco’s second trip to the injured list is good news for Edouard Julien, who was recalled from Triple-A St. Paul. The Quebec City native is .226/.310/.452 with four homers and eight RBI this season and now has the opportunity to play in his home country over the final two games with the Blue Jays.
The Twins enter Saturday’s game in first place in the American League Central with a record of 32-32.
