An active day of roster moves for the Minnesota Twins as the leaders of the American League Central Division placed center fielder Byron Buxton and catcher Mitch Garver on the 10-day injured list.
The Twins say Buxton has left shoulder inflammation and Garver has a low-grade right intercostal strain, which is a fancy way of saying he strained the muscles in his core, more specifically the muscles that are attached to his ribs.
Taking their places on the roster are catcher Ryan Jeffers and outfielder LaMonte Wade Jr., in addition to right-hander Zack Littell being called up and left-hander Lewis Thorpe being optioned to St. Paul.
Meanwhile, second baseman Luis Arraez is bothered by a sore knee and third baseman Josh Donaldson remains out with a calf strain. The Twins said Donaldson would start doing some running and lateral drills Wednesday, but there is no timetable for his return.
The Twins play the Brewers Wednesday at 6 p.m.
