The Minnesota Twins have placed top prospect Byron Buxton on the seven-day concussion disabled list.
The move was made one day after Buxton, 20, collided with teammate Mike Kvasnicka in right-center field of a game for Double-A New Britain.
Buxton, who was just called up to the Rock Cats earlier in the week, was knocked unconscious for 10 minutes after the collision in the fifth inning of a game against the Bowie Baysox.

Play was suspended for more than 30 minutes. Buxton was stabilized on a stretcher and taken from the stadium by an ambulance. Kvasnicka left the game under his own power but also went to the hospital with Buxton.
“I don’t know if I’ve seen a collision that severe in recent memory,” said Twins general manager Terry Ryan. “But Byron Buxton’s fine. He’s alert. He has a concussion, so we’ll have to take the normal procedure and protocol for concussion symptoms. He’ll certainly be watched.”
Buxton has been hampered by a wrist injury since spring training. According to the Pioneer Press, just 13 games will remain in the regular season for the Rock Cats once Buxton is eligible to return from the disabled list on Aug. 21.
Kvasnicka, a Lakeville North High School and University of Minnesota product, sustained a bruised hip in the collision.
