LoMo is long gone and so is Ervin Santana, the Minnesota Twins announced Tuesday.
Logan Morrison and Santana would’ve been back with the Twins in 2019 if the team elected to pick up their contract options, but new manager Rocco Baldelli and the front office brass has apparently decided to move on.

Santana missed the majority of last season with a finger injury and Morrison slumped his way through 95 games before a neck injury ended his only season with the Twins.
The club option on Santana, who will play the 2019 season at 36 years old, was for $14 million. The price to keep Morrison around another season was $8 million, far too much considering he was paid $5.5 million this past season.
Morrison hit just .186 with 15 homers and 39 RBI. The year before he was among the league’s home run leaders with 38 long balls.
The $22 million saved by sending Santana and Morrison on their way, coupled with the $23 million off the books with Joe Mauer’s contract expiring, gives the Twins even more money to spend, assuming the ownership group wants to spend.
Meanwhile, Dan Hayes of The Athletic reports the Twins are also parting with pitching coach Garvin Alston. Hitting coach James Rowson will return, per Hayes.
LaVelle Neal of the Star Tribune is reporting that third base coach Gene Glynn, major league coach Jeff Pickler, first base coach Jeff Smith and bullpen coach Eddie Guardado also won’t be retained on Baldelli’s staff.
