A former Twin owns the longest hit streak in baseball this year, and a current Twin had pitched 20 consecutive innings without allowing a run, the longest active streak in the majors.
After last night, that streak is no longer active, with Thielbar surrendering a solo jack to Ben Zobrist in the seventh inning of a 7-4 defeat at the hands of the Rays.
It was also the first hit Thielbar had given up in nearly a month, and with setup man Jared Burton continuing to struggle, it may just be a matter of time before the job is Thielbar’s.
In other encouraging news, former Cubs ace Rich Harden, and keep in mind he was an ace a long time ago, looks as if he’ll throw batting practice this week as he continues his long trip back from a torn shoulder capsule.
Harden is shooting to return as a member of the bullpen, as he attempts to keep his expectations reasonable with the season winding down. He has thrown several pain-free bullpen sessions, but is still a ways away from the beginning of a rehab assignment that is expected to be with the Fort Myers Miracle.
