Right-hander Tyler Mahle has been placed on the 60-day injured list after leaving his start April 27 with elbow soreness.
Twins beat reporters say Mahle will be shut down for at least four weeks before he attempts to work his way back into the starting rotation.
Tyler Mahle was moved to the 60-day IL because #MNTwins plan to have him shut down for 4-5 weeks and then would need another 2-3 weeks, at minimum, to build him back up. If there's any setbacks, he'll need longer.
He's also scheduled for a second opinion next week.— DanHayesMLB (@DanHayesMLB) May 5, 2023
The Twins also called up Alex Kirilloff from Triple-A St. Paul and sent Trevor Larnach down to take his place with the Saints.
Pitcher Derek Rodriguez was also called up and lefty Caleb Thielbar was placed on the 15-day IL.
