A two-run homer by Baltimore’s Trayvon Robinson in the eighth inning secured a 5-3 victory over the Twins in the team’s Grapefruit League opener in Sarasota, Fla., The Associated Press reports.
Baltimore jumped out to 1-0 lead in the second inning, but a two-run homer by Josh Willingham in the top of the third put the Twins ahead 2-1.
The Orioles tied the game at 2 in the fifth and the Twins added a run in the sixth to go ahead 3-2.
But a late rally by Baltimore, including a run in the seventh and Robinson’s 2-run homer in the eighth, put the Orioles ahead for good.
Kevin Correia got the start for the Twins, allowing one run on two hits in two innings.
The Twins spring training home opener is set for Sunday in Fort Meyers, Fla., where the team takes on the Tampa Bay Rays.
