After snapping an eight-game losing streak on Saturday, the Twins fell back into the loss column on Sunday, falling 8-2 at home to the Reds.
Minnesota’s stretch of putrid baseball has now seen them lose two of three at home to the lowly Reds in addition to being swept in Tampa Bay and New York.
But losing a home series to the Reds, owners of baseball’s worst record (7-21), is about as bad as it gets.
Making Sunday’s loss even worse is that it Jose Berrios, probably the most talented pitcher the Twins have, gave up four runs on five hits and three walks and was pulled without getting an out in the fourth inning.
Minnesota started the season by winning seven of 11 games, but has since gone 2-10, dropping them to 9-14 on the season.
Fortunately, the Indians (14-12) haven’t played lights out, so they’re just 3 1/2 games ahead of Minnesota for the lead in the American League Central.
The Twins host the Blue Jays for three games beginning Monday night at Target Field.
