The Minnesota Twins continued inexorably towards the playoffs Sunday thanks to a 4-0 win over the Chicago White Sox Sunday.
Edouard Julien’s three-run homer off of Dylan Cease in the 5th inning proved the difference maker, before a solo shot from Jorge Polanco in the 8th inning provided some extra insurance.
Sonny Gray was lights out over seven innings, giving up just five hits and no walks while striking out six.
The Twins are now 79-71 on the season and have a seven-game lead over the Cleveland Guardians with 12 games of the season left.
The Twins’ magic number to clinch a playoffs spot is now six. They travel to Cincinnati to face the playoffs-chasing Reds on Monday.
