Nearing the All-Star break with more wins than losses is plenty of reason for fans to be hopeful about the future of the Twins. But the hope the Twins are providing people away from the ballpark is on full display this week.
Giving back and helping the community is what Twins Hope Week is all about. Team President Dave St. Peter, in an interview with FOX Sports North, called the week a “snapshot” of what the club does all season long. All week players have been and will continue volunteering at events and clinics.

WCCO followed first baseman Joe Mauer on Tuesday when he brought kids from Gillette Children’s Hospital to Target Field for a pizza party.
“I think it’s just a sense of normalcy,” Mauer said. “With some of the surgeries these kids get are eight, 10 hours, and a hospital is not a fun place to be. I think everybody knows that.”

Meanwhile, second baseman Brian Dozier and nearly a dozen other Twins taught the game of baseball to kids in the Miracle League. Per the Twins’ website, Dozier said bringing “a smile to a kid’s face” is what it’s all about.

Glen Perkins, who was named an American League All-Star as a closer for a third straight season, took part of his Thursday to go fishing with kids on Lake Harriet.
