Twins Territory happens to be last place in the American League Central right now, tied with the Chicago White Sox. After a weekend sweep at the hands of the Boston Red Sox, Minnesota (18-22), is now six games behind first-place Cleveland.
Getting away from Target Field, where the Twins have a 9-13 record, might do them some good. Minnesota heads to Atlanta, Detroit and Milwaukee for a nine-game road trip.
Tonight’s opener against the Braves (25-18) pits Atlanta’s Julio Teheran (2-1, 4.57 ERA) against Kevin Correia (4-3, 3.35) — who is in a bit of a funk. The right-hander went 3-1 with a 2.23 ERA in his first five starts but has posted a 5.71 ERA in three outings this month, including a 4-2 loss to Chicago last week.
The Braves, according to the Associated Press, are looking for their fourth straight win, and are coming off a sweep of the Los Angeles Dodgers over the weekend.
