Three of the key players in the Twins’ winning start to the season have been starting pitchers Ervin Santana and Hector Santiago and third baseman Miguel Sano.
All three made CBS Sports’ early season top 100 players list. Santiago is ranked 95th while Santana and Sano are way up the list at numbers 11 and 10.
On Santiago: “Santiago has been a pleasant surprise for the Twins this season, as he has run an ERA of 2.78 after his first six starts.”
On Santana: “Santana is following up a strong 2016 campaign with an even stronger start to 2017. At present, he leads the AL in ERA, ERA+ and WHIP.”
On Sano: “Yes, he strikes out too much. Overwhelming that concern is that he’s one of the most patient hitters in baseball and he also has devastating power.”
The top nine include Mike Trout, Freddie Freeman, Bryce Harper, Chris Sale, Ryan Zimmerman, Dallas Keuchel, Francisco Lindor and Eric Thames.
