Minnesota Twins General Manager Terry Ryan received good news after a checkup with doctors at the Mayo Clinic on Wednesday.
Ryan, who on Feb. 11 underwent successful surgery to remove a form of skin cancer from his neck, is “healing nicely” and “doing well,” according team physician Dr. Vijay Eyunni, via the Pioneer Press.
The one-week follow-up exam was standard procedure. According to 1500 ESPN, the next step in his cancer treatment could be radiation, although the team hasn’t provided an update on what exactly will come next.
Even though he hasn’t been gone long, La Velle Neal III of the Star Tribune said he misses his frequent visits with Ryan.
Twins officials have talked about how strange it is for Ryan’s office to be empty at this time of year. I miss going in there because he has a HUGE chart of every team’s camp roster that takes up an entire wall. We would look at the names and chat about different players.
Ryan was recently diagnosed with Squamous Cell Carcinoma, one of the most common forms of skin cancer. The original prognosis was that his cancer was treatable and a full recovery was expected.
