It’s National League baseball for the Twins the next two days.
They’re in Miami to take on the Marlins for a quick two-game set.
They’ll play at 6:10 p.m. central tonight, and have a quick turnaround and play just before noon tomorrow morning.
The pitching matchups include Kevin Correia (6-4, .3.87 ERA) against Jose Fernandez (4-4, 3.05 ERA) tonight. In Wednesday’s matinee, Scott Diamond (5-6, 5.27 ERA) faces Tom Koehler (1-4, 4.65 ERA).
Minnesota catches the Marlins on a modest winning streak. Miami took three of four from San Francisco over the weekend to improve their major league-worst record to 25-50.
Fernandez, who is having a strong rookie season, didn’t fare too well in his previous start against the Twins earlier this year. He gave up four runs through five innings in a 4-3 loss to Minnesota, with Oswaldo Arcia smacking a three-run homer.
Correia, meanwhile, is coming off a solid start against the White Sox last week, a 7-4 win in which he struck out six and didn’t give up a walk.
The Twins, on a long climb back to the .500 mark, are at 34-38 right now, a half-game behind third-place Kansas City and seven behind first-place Detroit.
This also marks Minnesota’s final Interleague game of 2013. So far, the Twins are 8-9 against the National League.
As for tonight’s lineup, nothing out of the ordinary, except for Joe Mauer back in the familiar No. 3 slot in the batting order.
