The Twins’ comeback effort fell short Wednesday night at Target Field. The Phillies bolted to a 6-0 lead in the first inning and held on for a 9-8 victory. Trevor Plouffe and Josh Willingham each homered for the second straight game.
Plouffe’s 11 homers are second on the team behind Willingham’s 13.
Former Twins slugger Jim Thome belted a mammoth home run over the batters eye in center field. The estimated distance measured 466 feet — the third longest in Target Field history. Guess who owns the four longest homers at Target Field — Jim Thome.
P.J. Walters left the game after throwing fifteen pitches because of shoulder stiffness. He surrendered four straight singles before leaving. He’s scheduled to undergo an MRI on Thursday.
