The Minnesota Twins and Brian Duensing have agreed to a one-year, $2.7 million deal to avoid arbitration.
The Twins announced the deal with the 31-year-old left-handed pitcher Saturday.
“I’m just glad the process is over and we agreed,” Duensing said, according to MLB.com. “I love this organization and that I’m here, and we were able to get it done.”
The Twins couldn’t come to a deal before the Jan. 16 deadline after he asked for a raise from $2 million to $3.1 million; Minnesota countered with $2.4 million.
The two worked out a deal, which kept them from going to an arbitration hearing.
Duensing had a 3.31 ERA last season. He is one of the Twins’ longest tenured players.
