Pitcher Scott Diamond allowed three home runs in less than five innings of work Sunday, as the Twins went down to an 11-5 loss to the Toronto Blue Jays.
The Twins managed just five hits but two of them were home runs. Trevor Plouffe and Aaron Hicks each hit two-run homers. Catcher Ryan Doumit doubled and scored. But Minnesota went 1-for-9 with runners in scoring position as they suffered their 11th loss in their last 15 games.
Diamond cruised through the first three innings but things went south quickly as he allowed two runs in the fourth and four more in the fifth. In addition to the home runs, Diamond also tied a career high by walking four batters, the Pioneer Press notes.

Rookie Oswaldo Arcia’s name does not appear. He was held out of the lineup after being hit in the hand by a pitch on Saturday. X-rays were negative (the pitch was an R.A. Dickey knuckleball) and it was determined to be just a bruise, but Arcia is day-to-day.
The Twins have not won a series on the road since early May, when they took three out of four in Boston.
They now head south to Tampa Bay for a four-game series with the Rays. Samuel Deduno will take the pitcher’s mound Monday night against Tampa Bay’s Roberto Hernandez.
