A fourth straight loss suddenly has the Twins 10 games behind Cleveland in the American League Central division and 17 games out in the wild card race.
In short, you can pretty much stick a fork in the Twins.
Minnesota was leading the Brewers 5-1 after Robbie Grossman’s grand slam in the fifth inning Monday night, but Kyle Gibson gave up three runs in the bottom of the inning and the Brewers tied it with a sacrifice fly in the ninth.
It was the second consecutive blown save by Twins closer Fernando Rodney.
In the 10th inning, manager Paul Molitor brought right-handed rookie Zack Littell into the game for his second MLB appearance, and the 21-year-old wound up walking in the winning run.
“You put a young kid in a tough spot, bringing him in there in his second appearance, out of his routine of starting,” Molitor said afterward. “There’s not a lot of margin of error there. It is what it is.”
It’s another loss, but at least it was fun to watch the Twins turn a bunch of mistakes into a weird double play.
